It must not have been good	also.

AhnuuxunuuwaáWI	wiiteešUtčipiríhtš	wešiNIhkuNAhtawaáto
While they going about	young men	when they courted them

sčiíri	na	tákuʾ WIšiteenuutuuníkUt.
Pawnee (girls),	and	they would catch one (of the young men).

Whenever buffalo	approach	close by,	but	you do not do that.

wah	skaná	kooxaahwaawanúʾ	tiihéʾ.
Now	alone	you will be live	here.

wah	tsu	wetaátAt.
Now	but	I'm going.

nuunaahnunaanawaáhAt	koohaáh-	niniʾ	nii	tanáhaʾ
There where the land spreads out	on the	prairie	where	buffalos

NAhunuuwaáWI	tíštIt	koxtiwaawanúʾ.
their roaming,	well	I will live."

Now	there	they used to call it	Fort Clark.

wah	sáhniš	nikuwitatoxtaahnaanúʾAt	niihéʾ	haáwaʾ.
Now	Arikaras	that is where we used to live	there	also.

štoh	nooteeRAhwísaʾ	tiihéʾ	–	teškúNIt	–	niinatoxtaa-	kítAt.
Again	then they arrived	here	–	close by	–	where our vil-	lage was.

nootiraaníNAt	číkuʾ niikuʾaanuxpsiwá	čiitíʾIš.
Then they lived	it must have been winters	four.

nootiRAhčituuʾá	wiitatshaánuʾ	weniitakA-	xaáhu
Then they banded together	the Hidatsas	after they were	calling them

aaxkuraahNAhčituuʾaáNA	witiʾaatoonaakiiwaa-	WIsú.
'that we band together'	so we might defend each	other.

haawá	káNIt	nikutehnaraaniRAxá	AhnaRAhči-	tuuʾaáNA	wiitatshaánuʾ.
Also	Mandans	they were the first ones	for them	to join	the Hidatsas.

And	then there we crossed the river	Arikaras.
