Say it: | 'Throw me out!'" |
nootiraa- | wiiNUhuuniriwátAt | – | weWIšitohnuutuuníkUt | – | neeksaánuʾ. |

He went hunting. |

Now he was in (his lodge). |

Why | is it | its not being the way | that I kill anything?" |
AhnoowitiRAhwísAt | wiiteešútš. |
Then they just arrived there | young men. |
wituhnaánuʾ | taWIšaapiswaáNA. |
They numbered | seven. |
noowitiitawéʾ | wiítA | AhweWIšitiraaníhtš. |
There there were among them | men | they (du) were a little older. |

I threw him down the bank. |
niiháʾ | tIhunaahnátA. |
There | there is a hole. |

That is where he lies in it." |
noowitiraáNAt. |
Then they went. |
noowitiwaákoʾ | tinaaríčI | wiítA | šohnaraaNIhtíšU | aráh | či | weNAxiiraaniwáNIt. |
Then he said | this | man | the old ones (du): | "Why, | here | you have erred! |
aniNAhaahkáxA | wiítA | taa- | nikutatuxtaakitúhUx. |
The one lying at the base | man | this | is where we were camped. |

It was long ago. |
tiiNIštaaxíhuʾ | na | neeniíkot. |
This one was sick, | and | he died. |
taaneešiineetikaáWI. |
We buried him here. |

And | – | here | – | this is | where it was | here where you are |

Poor thing, | he was sick, | and | – | then he died. |
nikukohnaraačítA | – | aNAsuxtAsáʾUx. |
That must be the reason | – | his being hungry. |
nikutuhnaanáʾA | číkuʾ noowekananaaxikootíkA. |
That is the reason | that you did not kill anything. |
wah | parúNIt | nuxtoočinaanuúna. |
"Now | quickly, | hurry!" |
noowitinaaNAhuuwísAt. |
Then they got ready. |
nooWIšitihkaanúnoʾ | tinaákUx | neksaánuʾ. |
Then they prepared food for it | this | ghost. |
WIšitii- | taNAxkúx | wešinihnanáʾU | wešiniisaakatawíhA. |
They put | food down for him, | now their filling (the pipe), | now their offering the pipe to him. |
nawáh | witAheésaʾ. |
Now | morning came. |
wah | čiíRA. |
"Now, | hello! |

Now | let's go | where you go hunting, | your saying, | 'There are many | antelopes.'" |
noowitiraáNAt. |
Then they went. |
cikú | kanawituhnaaninoosičiraʾá | AxkaáʾA. |
There | was a multitude of them | antelopes. |
kanawitiiraačeéʾA | wešohniinapaníku. |
It was not a long time | their shooting them. |
noowitihkawoó- | tIt. |
Then they killed | them. |

Oh, | after they were bringing them (to camp) | there was | a large quantity | as they made dried meat. |
tinaákUx | wiiteešútš | AhnuuNUxtaačiteeʾaanú | číkuʾ nakukootíkA |
This | young man | its having been difficult for him | to kill any, |

niinuhnaaʾuúʾA | weNAhunáhAs. |
the way it was | when he died." |
nikukohnaraačítA | wetatiraahuuniiníšIt. |
That must have been the reason: | "Now I believe in things. |
či | nikunuúʾUt. |
Here | that is how it is! |

– | Here | it is true! |
– | neksaánuʾ | či | naratkawoókuʾ. |

nawáh | wetAhnaahuuniiníšIt. |
Now | I believe in things. |
wah | tiíNI | tiweNAtwaawaNUxtáNIt | koxtiraawiteeruuwaawanúʾ. |
Now | from here on | while I am going to be going around | I will believe everything. |
koxtiraawakaraanawaawanúʾ | awaaháxuʾ | číkuʾ NIhkutkaapaatštíRA. |
I will be praying to them | the Powers | that they bless me." |
wah | nikunoowituúta | tinaákUx | wiiteešútš. |
Now | then that is what he did | this | young man. |
weši- | NItkaapaatštíRA | – | awikaruúxuʾ | wehnuutapakaraanawaawanú | – |
When | they blessed him | – | the spirits | when he prayed to them, | – |
na | niiNAhkuWIskáʾA | nikunoowituúʾUt. |
and | what he wanted, | then that was how it was. |
nawáh | taanikunootiraaʾiitúxAt. |
Now | so this is how the story went. |
