Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., is working with Nakota communities to return valuable cultural archives of recordings of their elders.
The Institute for Indigenous Knowledge at Indiana University is hosting a fall conference titled Two-Eyed Ways of Knowing: Conceiving of Wellness in Indigenous Science and Medicine, taking place on October 2–3, 2026 in Bloomington, Indiana. This event invites participants to explore wellbeing through Indigenous and Western knowledges, grounding discussions in the Two-Eyed Seeing approach that bridges different ways of understanding health, healing, and science.

Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., is working with Nakota communities to return valuable cultural archives of recordings of their elders.

A new three-year initiative that seeks to preserve and sustain traditional communication practices among Navajo and Lakota communities has received grant funding of $449,877 from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Science Foundation, amid concerns over the loss of indigenous languages and cultural knowledge.
