This three-year partnership between tribal organizations—including the Phoenix Indian Center (PIC) and Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation—and Indiana University’s Institute for Indigenous Knowledge (IIK). Developing Indigenous Philosophy
Indigenous ways of being and thinking are largely marginalized in the field of Philosophy. Professors Michael-Ing, Alexus McLeod, and Andrea-Sullivan-Clarke are working to put Indigenous Philosophy on the map. Workshops hosted at Indiana University on Hawai'i, Mesoamerican, and Native American philosophies will bring together traditional knowledge holders and philosophers to decolonize and Indigenize the field of Philosophy.
The Indigenous Language Reclamation Working Group
The project brings together Indigenous community members, scholars, and institutional partners to support the return, stewardship of Indigenous languages through community-led, relational, and ethically grounded practices. Centered on Indigenous sovereignty and knowledge systems, the Working Group advances language reclamation as a living social practice embedded in community life, intergenerational relationships, and cultural continuance.
