Dr. Carolyn (Carly) Camplain (Comanche, she/they) is an Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington in the Applied Health Sciences Department. She is a scientific and legal researcher focused on social and structural determinants and health inequities, Indigenous sovereignty, healthcare while incarcerated, and Indigenous research methods and theoretical frameworks. Through community-based research, Dr. Camplain fosters cross-sector collaborations with communities and institutions that currently are non-existent to improve well-being among Indigenous people while incarcerated.
She has her J.D. from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Health-Health Equity from Northern Arizona University.
