Dallas Nelson (Oglala Lakota) earned his master's degree from Oglala Lakota College in Lakota Leadership and Management. From 2018 to 2024, Dallas led the Lakota Language & Education Initiative at Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation in Montessori education, language preservation and documentation, curriculum development, and lifeways reclamation. Currently, Dallas is part of the Advancement team at IllumiNative, an Indigenous national organization with the mission to build power for Native peoples by amplifying contemporary Native voices, stories, and issues to advance justice, equity, and self-determination. He resides in the Red Cloud Community on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota with his wife - Emily Charging Crow-Nelson and his four children.
